Shortcuts for your Smartphones …
for those who do NOT want to use our apps…

Here’s the quick and simple version you can hand to someone who isn’t very technical:

  1. Go to the page you like in Chrome, Edge, or another browser.

  2. To make a shortcut to the live page:

    • Grab the little lock icon (next to the web address) with your mouse.

    • Drag it onto your desktop.

  3. To save a copy of the page itself:

    • Press Ctrl + S on your keyboard.

    • Pick where to save it, then click Save.

AND A LONGER VERSION:

Here’s a rewritten version that clearly explains both options — creating a shortcut and using Save Page As — so the difference is easy to follow.

  1. Open your web browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or another) and go to the webpage you want to keep. Make sure the page is fully loaded.

  2. If you want a shortcut to the live page:

    • In Chrome: Click the three dots in the top-right corner. Go to “More tools,” then click “Create shortcut.” Choose a name for it, check “Open as window” if you want, and then click “Create.” A new shortcut will appear on your desktop.

    • In Edge: Click the three dots in the top-right corner. Go to “More tools,” then select “Pin to taskbar” or “Pin to Start.” If you want a desktop shortcut, you can also click and drag the padlock icon from the address bar to your desktop.

    • In Firefox and many others: Click and drag the padlock or globe icon from the address bar directly onto your desktop. This creates a shortcut that opens the site in your default browser.

  3. If you want to save a copy of the page itself (not just a shortcut):

    • In Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or most browsers: Click the three dots menu (or the main menu), then choose “Save page as…” or press Ctrl+S on your keyboard.

    • A window will pop up asking where to save it. You can pick either:
Webpage, complete (saves the page plus an extra folder with images and files).
Webpage, HTML only (saves just the text and code without extras).

    • Once saved, you can double-click the file on your computer to open it later, even offline.

  4. The difference:

    • Shortcuts give you fast access to the live webpage as it appears online.

    • Save Page As keeps a snapshot copy of the webpage at that moment, useful if the site changes or you need to see it without internet access.
